1. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the Service:

• Email Address — collected when you create an account or sign in using email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google. Used solely to authenticate you and enable account features.
• Display Name — a name you choose when registering. Shown publicly next to your word contributions in the dictionary.
• User ID — a unique identifier (UUID) generated by our authentication system (Supabase) when your account is created. Used to link your contributions, votes, and profile data to your account.
• Word Contributions & Votes — words, meanings, and examples you submit to the dictionary, as well as your votes on community-submitted words. This content is stored and displayed publicly as part of the dictionary.
• App Interaction Data — general usage such as searches performed and features used, stored to maintain and improve the Service.

We do not collect location data, contacts, photos, payment information, health data, or any other sensitive personal information.

2. How We Use Your Information

All data collected is used exclusively for App Functionality:

• To authenticate you and maintain your session
• To display your contributions and profile in the dictionary
• To enable voting, contributing, and community features
• To prevent abuse and maintain the integrity of the dictionary
• To respond to support requests

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing communications, third-party analytics, or sell it to any third party. We do not run ads of any kind.

3. Authentication Providers

You may sign in using email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google. When you use Apple or Google sign-in, those providers share only the minimum required information (email and name) with us. Their own privacy policies apply to how they process your data:

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase, located in the Asia-Pacific (Tokyo) region. Supabase provides encryption at rest and in transit (TLS). We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, or deletion.

5. Data Linked to You

The following data types are collected and linked to your identity:

• Email Address
• Display Name
• User ID
• Word Contributions & User Content
• App Interaction (votes, searches)

None of this data is used for tracking you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal information (email, display name, User ID) within 30 days. Word contributions you submitted may be retained in anonymized form as part of the public dictionary.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information via your Profile settings
• Delete your account and associated personal data (via Settings → Delete Account in the app)
• Export your data upon request

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without consent, contact us at support@afsoomali.com and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
